Questions
OCI Card FAQ.
General information only, not legal advice. Ask us about your situation.
Call 463-301-9000Do my U.S.-born children need an OCI card?
It isn't required, but an OCI card lets them visit India without a visa for life. Without one, they need a visa for each trip.
Do I need to update my OCI card when I get a new passport?
Yes. Every time you get a new passport, at any age, upload it and a recent photo on the OCI portal. It's free within 3 months of the passport's issue date. Physical OCI cards are no longer re-issued.
Do I need a surrender certificate first?
If you held an Indian passport before becoming a U.S. citizen, you'll usually need a surrender certificate before you can apply for OCI.
